Totally smashing day, very large turnout, great weather, sun speckled with rain, mention of the 'best' yet... in no particular order.. £900 from the art gallery thanks Emily and team.. £2600 from the bar ...STOP PRESS '£4000' net profit a possibility.. On the music front, GMC Band brilliant launch ("They do it for me" says neighbour Alan ).. HALL BROS Nick, Duncan, Michelle, John hastening to Kettlewell after a thrilling set (John before you go walkabout check the length of the XLR lead - he unplugged himself) .. Thumbdrum workshop with forty people hitting a common rhythm whether they be in wheelchairs, ordinary chair, or their sixties (Paul and Anna conducting a flock of errant drummers) .. Paul Sunderland the magician bringing a clump of disbelieving kids to the point of distraction (hope the vertigo improves Paul).. O'DONNELL & BIRD (our Lorna and Mairead) folk singers, just the best - pure fluent and warm we love you ..check the di's.. CLEAR with a dazzling set before they moved onto a private gig (half the audience demand to know where this is)...Ade Payne and Wendy on the acoustic stage shine out AND with free CDs for us to auction ...Mick and Sue on sound handle the demands of tons of musicians armed only with a cup of tea ... The BIG FAT KILL blow us away with a sharper, melodic punch, new line-up and 'Werewolf of London' ... Ben Floyd battles with a faulty lead and still achieves finger-picking style ... children throw rocks at gents in the forest latrines .. The Lovesick Cowboys with flawless C+W style and humour generously returning their expenses (no musician charged a fee) ... cakes to die for - not from - are sold by the plate (thanks julie jones, christina and the Macmillan team) .. Ramon de Juan with a voice to bring songs home and a passionate demeanour we love ... children's tent with Karen & Yvette's human fruit machine causing hysteria and havoc .. Sarah's Indian fancies Nigel's startling burgers ... Resurgence blast us off to bed, albeit baffled as they were by a lack of bikers in Ben Rhydding, ('come on, does anybody own a moped??') before hitting Born to Be Wild, not so much Steppenwolf as Stairlift ... staggering warmth and emotional union around toasts to Pat, John and verymuchalive Howard.. and so to bed...OCT 31st Pat's Bonfire looms...
