The first Pat's Party took place in 2004. Pat Evans decided she wanted to do something to help the children caught up in the Iraq war.
She decided Save The Children was the charity that hit the mark, organised a party in a neighbour's field with the help of her family and friends, and raised £700.
Pat was diagnosed with cancer that Autumn, and died the following March. In the many hours of talk through that dark winter, she would focus on what the rest of the family might do, how life would turn out for us.
She urged us to keep 'the little party' going. Since then we - her family and friends - have organised a summer party in her memory each year. Thousands of people have come to the events.
We have now raised over £100,000 for Save the Children since Pat first had the idea to start the party.
Thanks to all involved!
